The School of STEM presents:

�鶹��ýӳ�� College's Mechanical Engineering Technology students present their Capstone Projects - the culmination of months of innovative design, engineering, and collaboration.

Throughout the summer, students have worked in teams to design and manufacture working machines that solve some very difficult real-world engineering challenges. As part of their final assessment, students will present their projects to a panel of external industry experts who will evaluate the designs and ask in-depth technical questions — similar to a Dragon's Den-style review.

From these presentations, two outstanding teams will be recognized as:

• Best Technical Project
• Most Innovative Project

Winners will be announced during the Showcase on August 15th. The event is open to the public, everyone welcome!

This year’s projects include:

1. MRI Simulator for Victoria General Hospital – A device to help patients desensitize before undergoing an actual MRI, thus avoiding sedation and even General Anesthetic typically required when imaging children
2. Inflatable Roller – A machine designed to efficiently roll up large inflatable structures single headedly
3. Duct Cleaner – A steam-powered robot for degreasing industrial kitchen exhaust ducting.
4. Split Fence Twisting Apparatus – A machine for manufacturing rustic vertical split rail fences.
5. Batch Candle Dipping Machine – A small-scale production machine for dipping bees wax candles.
6. Scented Shower Puck Press – A semi-automated press for forming aromatic shower pucks.
7. Perfume Bottle Caper – A tool to easily cap artisan perfume bottles.
8. Commercial Grease Trap System – An improved system for preventing grease and sediment (food waste, coffee grounds) from entering sanitation systems.
